Ironman Wales 2026
Last year, we said we hoped to win in 2026 - and we did!
Heathwood Swimming and Triathlon were no 1 on the podium!
We were the highest-point-scoring Triathlon club
We had the most female athletes in any club at Tenby Ironman Wales
We had the fastest swimmers out of the water
Dave, Ross and fellow coaches are over the moon - and our members are ecstatic.
We had 66 members racing and 62 finished.
We scored 139000 points, way ahead of the next club down with 92,000.

Dave says: "It was an absolute privilege to be invited to speak at the Welsh Sports Association Sustainability in Sport Conference earlier this month.
‘Protecting Open Water Spaces for Physical Activity’ was my hot topic. It was great to be able to discuss what @heathwoodswimming does year in, year out, working with its partners & NGBs.
I'd like to thank Swim Wales CEO, Fergus Feeney, for asking me to be the ‘Swimmer's voice’ on the panel.

Ironman Wales 2025
Ironman Wales was a huge success.
We had the 2nd biggest team out of 254 teams and we scored 3rd highest overall.
We hope to win next year, 2026, with 62 Heathwooders already signed up.

Escape from Alcatraz - £75,000 raised for Velindre
Velindre’s fundraisers completed the extraordinary Alcatraz swim!
Heathwood Swimming is so proud that the team of 26 swimmers completed the 2-mile swimming challenge from Alcatraz Prison to Crissy Field Beach on 19th May 2025. Conditions were challenging, but - led by Velindre Ambassador Dave Tonge - the incredible swimmers bravely took on the cold, choppy waters and strong underwater currents of San Francisco Bay to raise a mind-blowing £75,000 to date for Velindre Cancer Charity.
